GOAL

The TB Implementation Framework Agreement (TIFA) project supports the country's efforts to achieve the National TB Elimination Program goals. TIFA provides technical assistance to the state governments and partners to test, assess, prioritize, and scale new interventions to address program gaps.

OBJECTIVES

TIFA is designed to support USAID India Mission efforts to achieve NTEP goals. In India, TIFA closely works with Central TB Division, MoHFW, GoI to accelerate end TB goal as per NSP 2017-25. TIFA is guided by three key objectives:

Objective 1: Achieve effective/efficient mechanisms for direct support to Indian government entities, international and Indian NGOs, and private sector partners to implement catalytic activities responsive to the NTEP’s goals.

Objective 2: Accelerate progress toward NTEP’s 2017-2025 strategic priorities.

Objective 3: Leverage and advocate for additional domestic resources for TB from both the public and private sectors.

SUMMARY

TIFA works closely with USAID/India and the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP), stewarded by the Central TB Division (CTD) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), to provide Tuberculosis Commitment Grants (TCGs) which are fixed amount awards and other awards to government entities, international and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private sector partners. TIFA awards enable partners to implement catalytic activities, thereby helping the NTEP to test, critically assess, prioritize and/or scale new interventions needed to address program gaps and accelerate progress in its 2025 TB elimination strategy.

The existing TIFA awards support the National TB Elimination Program in different thematic areas such as pediatric TB, differentiated care for TB, standards of TB care in India, community engagement, and evaluation of active case finding, direct benefit transfer (Nikshay Poshan Yojana) and Pradhanmantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA)
