GOAL

To reduce the burden of morbidity and mortality from TB among tribal populations in India

OBJECTIVES

The project works with the following objectives:

1. Facilitate interventions that will increase TB diagnosis, notification, and initiation of treatment and ensure treatment adherence and completion; 

2. Support the development and deployment of technology-based interventions to improve notification rates, diagnosis, data-sharing, and monitoring of the progress of the NTEP (National TB Elimination Programme);

3. Build partnerships with various community-based organisations and representative groups to design, curate, and plan the scale-up of behaviour change models to reduce the burden of TB; 

4. Create a better understanding of TB among tribal communities by generating evidence and creating platforms for disseminating best practices; and 

5. Advocate for policy changes based on research and learnings from implementation.

SUMMARY

The project focuses on three main aspects:

1. Foster Community Engagement: Build partnerships with various community-based organizations and representative groups to design, curate, and plan the scale-up of behavior change models to reduce the burden of TB. 

2. Health Systems Strengthening: Facilitate interventions that increase diagnosis, notification, and the initiation of treatment and ensure treatment adherence and completion. Also supporting the development and deployment of technology-based interventions to improve notification rates, diagnosis, data-sharing, and monitoring of the progress of the NTEP. 

3. Research and policy advocacy: Create a better understanding of TB among tribal communities by generating evidence and creating platforms for disseminating best practices along with advocating for policy changes based on research and learnings from implementation.
