To strengthen critical care and support for vulnerable indigenous populations residing in remote areas of India where health infrastructure is suboptimal.
The project works with the following objectives:
1. Establish a critical COVID-19 containment strategy for tribal and rural communities
2. Augment community preparedness and strengthen public health facilities to efficiently fight the current and future waves of COVID-19
3. Increasing awareness on COVID-19, need for the vaccine, COVID appropriate behavior, identifying the symptoms of COVID-19 and TB, its screening, timely referral for prevention of the spread of COVID-19 and TB among the tribal communities.
The project is partnering with district administration and community level NGOs to establish 30-bedded COVID-19 Care Centers in underserved areas. Outreach services, in the form of IEC activities, are performed through a mobile team for promoting COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB), addessing COVID vaccine hesitancy, performing bidirectional screening for COVID and tuberculosis (TB). The program started the above activities on campaign mode across the identified blocks of the tribal districts of the country.
