Despite the progress made in the last decade, with a 46% decline in new HIV infections amongst young people, the world is still behind on achieving the targets set for the 15 - 24 years age group. This publication studies the trends in the total number of young people living with HIV and HIV prevalence in this age group. It recommends that national prevention strategies and programs be designed to holistically address the needs of young people in all their diversity, their participation in decision making encouraged and access to high quality sexual education be enhanced.
