World Immunization Week, celebrated in the last week of April, highlights the need for collective action to ensure that people are protected through immunization against vaccine-preventable diseases. Under the Theme of ‘The Big Catch-Up’, WHO is working with partners to support countries to ensure that they are able to address the gaps in vaccination and protect people from preventable diseases. The key message for this immunization week is to 'act now' in order to catch up on the millions of children who missed out on vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic, restore essential immunization coverage to at least 2019 levels and strengthen primary health care to deliver immunization. The ultimate goal of World Immunization Week is for more children, adults – and their communities – to be protected from vaccine-preventable diseases, allowing them to live happier, healthier lives. Some posters on key messages for immunization and vaccination are made available for sharing with people and communities.
