The WHO’s global Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan (SPRP) was first published within days of WHO declaring the novel coronavirus outbreak a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC). The SPRP outlined the essential steps needed at global, national and local levels to suppress transmission of COVID-19, reduce exposure, protect the vulnerable and save lives – and the foundational structure needed to underpin this. The SPRP 2021 February update evolved to take into account new knowledge and more effective tools developed over the preceding year. This report gives a snapshot of the global scale of WHO's work to put the SPRP 2021 into action from February to August 2021, and highlights some of the local impacts that the Organization has delivered for Member States. It is a useful resource for policy makers. Click here to read the document.
