Current use of drugs to prevent COVID-19 is variable, with a high level of uncertainty regarding the evidence-base, and numerous randomized clinical trials of many different drugs underway to inform practice. The WHO Living guideline: Drugs to prevent COVID-19 contains the Organization’s most up-to-date recommendations for the use of drugs to prevent COVID-19. This document includes a strong recommendation against administering hydroxychloroquine prophylaxis to individuals who do not have COVID-19. This living guideline is an innovation from WHO, driven by the urgent need for global collaboration to provide trustworthy and evolving COVID-19 guidance informing policy and practice worldwide.
