Tuberculosis Research Funding Trends

19 Mar 2021

Intensified TB research and funding need to remain a priority to ensure continued progress towards ending TB. WHO had identified research funding as one of the three main pillars of the End TB Strategy.  However, in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, the research focus has shifted markedly. This report draws the TB research funding landscape in 2019, i.e. before COVID-19 pandemic.  It also emphasizes that  the excitement, and urgency that marked the TB field before COVID-19, must continue for the world to progress towards the End TB Goal. This evidence can be used by policy makers to focus on the End TB Strategy.
