This report provides first-hand information on the situation of indigenous peoples in 11 countries, premised on a collaborative, community-led data-gathering effort and testimonies from indigenous communities. It emphasizes COVID-19's diverse impact on indigenous peoples, which varies from community to community. On the one hand, the report reveals how pre-existing barriers to health, social security, and education are exacerbating the pandemic's disparate effects on indigenous peoples. It also points to an increase in food insecurity, which is linked to lost livelihoods and a lack of access to land and natural resources. On the other hand, it highlights the crucial role played by communities in constructing the pandemic-related global response and recovery. This report's analysis and recommendations are intended to aid in the development of COVID-19 response and recovery measures that respect indigenous peoples' rights while also supporting their livelihoods, economies, and resilience.
