Subnational Mapping of Newborn and Child Mortality Trends in India

27 Aug 2020
Maternal & Child Health

by The Lancet 45 min read

While child mortality in India has almost halved in the past two decades, progress has been uneven. Disaggregated data providing an understanding of the factors causing child mortality are unavailable. This study provides a sub-national level analysis of the current status and trends in child survival. It suggests that we were already behind on SDG & NHP 2025 goals prior to the 2020 pandemic. This research can inform policy and program design at the district, state, and national levels.
