In pursuit of the UHC target, states across India have implemented different strategies to arrest high out-of-pocket expenditure (OOPE) and increase equity in the healthcare system. This study explores the utilization pattern of public in-patient care facilities, examines the effectiveness of strategies adopted by states and analyzes the extent of equity achieved in public in-patient care services in the states. Other states can learn from the successful strategies adopted by Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu as well as the implementation gaps identified in West Bengal. Click here to access the article.
