India's UHC commitment is one of the most significant to achieving equitable, quality healthcare for all its citizens. While the mission has made significant progress over the last five years, several challenges need to be overcome to achieve the SDGs. Some of these challenges include gaps in healthcare infrastructure, a divergence between rural and urban geographies, an acute shortage of skilled workers and inadequate public funding.
