31 Dec 2021
Health System Strengthening

by Sonalini Khetrapal et al 15 MIN READ

Despite huge investments, health services remain far from perfect in developed and developing countries alike.A large number of patients do not receive appropriate, evidence-based care.Poor quality care disproportionately affects the more vulnerable groups in society. The economic and social costs of patient harm caused by long-term disability, impairment, and lost productivity amount to trillions of dollars each year This publication emphasizes the importance of a quality framework in the provision of health care services and presents the progress India has made through its National Urban Health Mission road map. Implementation of quality in health services requires a systematic and comprehensive approach involving concerted, sustained, and coordinated efforts by national authorities, health systems, and communities. This publication presents the framework for quality assurance to implement India’s national road map for improving urban health care services.  Click here to read the publication.
