The first thousand days of life, the time spanning between conception and the second birthday of a child, provides a unique window of opportunity to act when foundations of optimal health, growth and neurodevelopment are being established. This document provides a roadmap towards creating a shared value in child development, across various sectors. It is aimed at providing families with knowledge of how best to utilize the potential of the first thousand days. Expected to be a milestone in child and mother care, this book is aimed at complementing the existing programs at the States and UTs levels. It is an effort to educate parents and caregivers about good child rearing practices,  and the most up-to-date knowledge about factors that can impact a child’s cognitive development . This document is a synthesis of knowledge from various fields, such as maternal health, child health, cognitive neuroscience and more. It is a useful resource for program implementers.
