The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, and the GSMA mHealth Program supports commercially sustainable health services to promote the wellbeing of mothers and families in developing countries. Together with Frog- a global design and strategy firm- GSMA launched the mHealth program in several countries of Africa. This Toolkit employs the learning and experiences of the mHealth program to set out 10 principles of building viable and sustainable mHealth services in low- to middle-income countries. The Toolkit provides key considerations for mHealth services. These include business, design, content and marketing that each mHealth service should address in order to succeed; it also provides examples and stories from the field and resources for conducting research for designing customised mHealth programs. This toolkit is relevant for researchers in the field of health technology, and public and non-government organizations desirous of providing mHealth services.
