This list of mental health screening and assessment tools is for clinicians to integrate a mental health approach to their clinical practice. The list contains psychometric tools that are appropriate for use in paediatric (1-21 years) and primary care settings. The tools are both freely accessible and proprietary. While these tools are designed for health workers and medical professionals in the US, they can also be used in the Indian context since India is now increasingly focusing on adolescent mental health. These tools cover the spectrum of commonly noted mental health issues—anxiety, depression, inattention and impulsivity, disruptive behavior or aggression, substance abuse, learning difficulties, and symptoms of social-emotional disturbance in young children. The listing also contains tools to identify psychosocial risks, prior exposure to trauma, and problems with the child’s developmental trajectory and cognitive development.
