India's Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) was designed by WHO to protect children against six childhood diseases. The objective was to ensure that all children have an equal opportunity to avail of the benefits of immunization. However, there still remains an inequity in distribution amongst states as well as urban-rural areas. This paper makes recommendations on changes required in the EPI to make it more effective. It could be used by state and central government health departments to consider bringing changes in the immunization programs. Click here to access the article.
