HIV/AIDS Adolescent Health

by Kavita Joshi 40 min read

This cross-sectional study, conducted over a year, uses data of 60 HIV positive adolescent (12-19 years) patients attending tertiary care who were on antiretroviral therapy (ART). The study aimed at evaluating the relationship between CD4 count and the duration of ART, its effects on body mass index, and the adverse effects of antiretroviral drugs in adolescent HIV positive patients. The study concludes that Indian adolescents seem to have a higher tolerance for ART. The data and conclusions can assist doctors and healthcare workers to prescribe and follow effective and optimal treatment regimes for adolescents with HIV.
