India’s Syndemic of Tuberculosis and COVID-19

19 Nov 2021

Controlling the post COVID increase in TB cases depends on quickly the TB related services can be ramped up. This paper calls for rapid implementation of the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP). Outlining the first pressing priority as the need to catch-up on all the missed TB patients, it also emphasizes the need to screen for TB and COVID-19 together. The third major challenge to be addressed as highlighted in this paper is that of malnutrition, which is a major driver of TB. While outlining the areas to be focused upon this paper also proposes the use of some innovative ways to address the challenges. This is a useful study for implementers.
