Supporting India in health financing reform also was a major objective of the Health Finance and Governance project. These efforts laid the groundwork for improved management of public health funds and development of financial risk protection instruments that enable the poor to access quality health care without risking financial ruin. This report highlights a few of HFG’s major accomplishments, which will, amongst other wide ranging activities the project undertook, shape the direction of a strengthened health system in India and improve health outcomes for its people. This report can be used by policy makers to determine progress made and also to find ways to increase domestic resources for health, manage them more effectively, and make wise purchasing decisions.
