This compendium on Health and Nutrition Practice was developed with an objective to facilitate knowledge sharing and showcasing innovative approaches and effective strategies that have led to a desirable change in the Health and Nutrition outcomes in India. Since this practice insight was being prepared while the world was fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, few initiatives undertaken by State Governments and District Administrations, particularly to ensure access to essential services to target population, have also been captured in this document. The broad thematic areas of the practices captured include maternal and child health outcomes, dietary interventions such as dietary diversification (including Nutri-cereals) & food fortification, program strengthening (service delivery & institutional mechanisms) and community mobilization (involving religious leaders). This document also provides guidance for improving the effectiveness of existing health and nutrition programs by serving as a useful reference tool to reach out to the most marginalized sections of the population. This Compendium is expected to benefit the policy makers and relevant stakeholders by providing an opportunity for cross-learning through exchange of ideas and diverse experiences.
