The COVID-19 vaccines, authorized by regulators, significantly reduce the risk of severe disease and death and are believed to be safe for most people, including people living with HIV. This document clarifies how vaccines work and the fact that the COVID-19 vaccines bring the same benefits for people living with HIV as they bring to all individuals and communities. These include prevention of severe disease due to SARS-CoV-2 and potentially reduced transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This document also emphasizes that the COVID-19 vaccines are safe for PLHIVs. It is a useful document for program implementers. Click here to read the note.
