Guidance on Continuing Maternity Care During COVID-19

21 May 2021

Maternity care providers are essential healthcare workers and must be protected and prioritized during the ongoing pandemic, to ensure that care to childbearing women and their babies is delivering safely. The UNFPA's maternity care response involves a 3-pronged approach, which focuses on safety of maternity care providers, effective maternity care to women and protection of maternal health systems.  These recommendations were released as a resource for UNFPA staff health professionals. Since these are based on a combination of WHO guidelines, good practice and expert advice based on the latest scientific research these can be adopted by any maternity healthcare provider in India as well.
