There is clear and consistent evidence from clinical trials that multiple micronutrient supplements (MMS) provide additional benefits over iron and folic acid supplements (IFA) in reducing adverse pregnancy outcomes. This document provides guidance to country-level decision-makers interested in introducing multiple micronutrient supplements for pregnant women in antenatal care programs, in line with the WHO antenatal care recommendations for a positive pregnancy experience.
