The number of people facing acute food insecurity and requiring urgent food, nutrition and livelihoods assistance is on the rise. The GRFC highlights that conflict combined with climate disruption and economic shocks are the main reasons for this shortage, which was further aggravated by the COVID‑19 pandemic. Over 142 million people in 40 out of 55 countries/territories included in the GRFC 2021 are forecast to be in crisis or worse (IPC/CH Phase 3 or above) or equivalent in 2021. The country level forecasts of food crisis will be helpful for policy makers to plan for overcoming the food crisis. Click here to read the report.
