Food and Me : Experience of Adolescents

29 Jul 2021
Adolescent Health

by UNICEF, Western Sydney University, Young & Resilient Research Center 75 MIN READ

Healthy development of far too many adolescents is being compromised by poor diets. Children and young people who eat poorly, live poorly and suffer deficiencies of essential nutrients.  Therefore, more needs to be done to better support children and young people to eat nutritious and safe diets. This study of 18 countries is aimed at understanding more about adolescents' knowledge of good nutrition, attitudes and behaviours with respect to food.  This study reveals the problems adolescents face in accessing nutritious food and how platforms such as social media could be used to better educate people about diets and roles of community leaders, governments and young people in improving diets.  These findings could be useful for policymakers engaged in designing nutrition programs and policies.  Click here to access the study.
