Fertility Rates in Eight EAG States and Assam

26 Jun 2020
Family Planning

by A. A. Jayachandran, et al. 45 min read

Measuring the Total Fertility Rate at the state and district levels in India is important for estimating the reach and need for health interventions, population control measures, and maternal health. The third round of Annual Health Survey conducted in 2012-13 estimated the fertility rates for EAG states and Assam. These are the latest official fertility rates available until now. This paper seeks to address the information gap using data from the latest NFHS-4 conducted in 2015-16, and the STATA. The results obtained in this paper, and through similar researches have proven to be extremely useful for monitoring government programs.
