Electronic Health Records: The New GPS

28 Sep 2020

Electronic health records (EHR) are predicted to become a $33.3 billion industry by 2023. They are uniquely placed to increase healthcare efficiency, improve the patient experience, and facilitate data-driven decision making. As technology progresses to incorporate artificial intelligence and big data into healthcare, the point of care for patients will likely extend beyond a doctor’s office. In other words, EHR systems act as a GPS, helping doctors and care teams navigate patient care more efficiently. This infographic report by Visual Capitalist provides concise analysis and future uses of EHRs.Capturing real-world data and patient-reported outcomes will be important for wider applications, towards:

  1.  A deeper understanding of patient journeys
  2. Informing clinical trial design and execution
  3. Better characterizing patient demographics
  4. Evaluating treatment options for sub-populations

This information on EHRs can be a reference for health program implementers.
