The COVID-19 pandemic has led to deterioration of social determinants of health and worsening existing health inequities. This brief summarizes the evidence derived from a rapid systematic review of the main social determinants impacting health equity during the COVID-19 pandemic. it also describes their effect on particular population groups. Health inequities refer to unfair, avoidable or remediable differences in health among population groups. This brief sets forth the evidence on how disadvantaged population groups are experiencing worse health impacts of the COVID- 19 pandemic and makes a call for action to heed this evidence in recovery as well as in current and future pandemics and crises responses. it is a useful evidence based brief for policy makers.
