The challenges and stresses highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic are not new for people living with or at risk of HIV, especially in the case of disadvantaged communities. These challenges reflect the structural, systemic issues that have disproportionately affected these communities for decades, and continue to do so. The pandemic has deepened existing inequalities and vulnerabilities but did not create them. The report emphasizes the needs of people living with AIDS and makes specific recommendations to prioritize attention to the marginalized and criminalized populations amongst them. It underscores the need for more dialogs between donors and community groups on what is actually needed to be funded. It can be useful for program implementers. Click here to read more.
