Urban living can offer increased proximity to health services, but many urban dwellers still experience difficulty accessing basic care and may live in environments that adversely affect their health. The substantial growth expected in India's cities will require new approaches to urban health and well-being. The findings from this assessment suggest gaps in information on some key areas affecting health and healthy living in Indore. These findings, along with other studies on political economy, NCD risk factors, and data use, can be used by implementers, to help city governments assess vulnerabilities, barriers, and opportunities for strengthening health systems.
