Buddy Buddy Model for FRU Activation

02 Jul 2021

First Referral Units (FRUs) are required to be equipped with a specialized workforce that can manage major medical causes of maternal and neonatal deaths. This document provides an overview of the Buddy Buddy Model, an innovative policy initiative for activation of FRUs. It also highlights the policy enablers incorporated in the model for leveraging available government medical officers required to conduct C-section deliveries at inactive FRUs. This document makes a case for the Buddy Buddy approach to be considered as for quickly activating FRUs. It could be a useful resource for policy makers while planning to scale up health infrastructure .  Click here to read the document.
