Attitudes towards Pregnancy and Contraceptive Use

21 Aug 2020
Family Planning

by Elizabeth Tobey, et al. 60 min read

This report establishes the connection between ambivalence towards the desire for pregnancy and contraceptive use amongst a sample of married women from Odisha and Haryana. It assesses cognitive (beliefs/knowledge) and affective (feelings/emotions) attitudes towards pregnancy to conclude that outlook towards pregnancy is multifaceted, even contradictory, and therefore needs further study to help promote contraceptive use. This study can inform program design and implementation of Family Planning methods, along with helping determine the type of contraception that can be promoted.
