The impact of large family size and high fertility rates transcends individual, family, community and national boundaries. It has a disproportionate and adverse impact on girls and women in terms of their health and well-being, incompletion of education, skill development and lack of participation in paid workforce, leading to poor participation in decision making at family, community and socio political domains. This policy brief examines the need for renewed focus on family planning by raising awareness and improving access on spacing contraception amongst young couples.
