SDG 3.8 refers to achievement of universal health coverage, including financial risk protection, access to quality essential health-care services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all. With less than a decade left to achieve these targets, the global momentum behind the UHC achievement offers significant opportunities to build collective action towards adolescent health. This paper sets out evidence on adolescent health and makes the case that to achieve UHC targets policy makers need to take urgent action in the areas of service delivery, financing and governance.
