The WHO treatment guidelines have prescribed antiretrovirals (ARVs) that are more efficacious, tolerable, and cheaper. The new guidelines have caused national HIV treatment programs to shift their treatment guidelines and the ARV formulary. This toolkit can provide health ministries and implementing organizations with the tools necessary to assess the adoption of new HIV drugs and introduce new ones in their local context. The tools span the entire chain of product monitoring and introduction. There are tools for national-level planning and budgeting, stakeholder engagement, procurement plan, and monitoring and uptake. This Toolkit is also accompanied by The HIV New Product Introduction Guide which introduces users to a New Product Introduction Framework.
